Christmas was wonderful, first because we got to celebrate the best gift of all, Jesus! Secondly, cause Daddy was home with us!
We went to church Christmas Eve.
Then came home and the kids opened their new PJs.
The kids woke up and did their usual morning quiet time without one complaint or bit of anxiousness. They were thrilled about getting gifts, but we don't do the santa thing and it really didn't consume them. It was delightful! Mommy and Daddy got to sleep in, then we had cinnamon rolls for breakfast, Daddy read the Bible account of Jesus' birth, we read another kid's book about it, then opened gifts and talked to family far away.
The highlight of Christmas, was of course, celebrating Jesus' birthday! In the afternoon, we had about 30 friends over to celebrate with us. Most of the families didn't even know each other (we actually didn't know everyone) which made for a fun, chatty, full house. While being in the military takes us far from biological family, we love that we are available on holidays to minister to others and open our home, to friends who have become family, and even perfect strangers!

Happy New Year Roher's!
We don't do the Santa thing either and I agree with you that it was great how they weren't consumed with opening gifts right away!
I hope you guys have a great 2013!
Love the idea of inviting people over in the afternoon for a Happy Birthday, Jesus party. You will have to fill me in with details! I want to do this next year. So glad your hubby was able to be home with you all. Such a blessing!
